RentMy is an independent student project run by two university students in Malaysia. It is not a registered company. We keep your data to what the site needs, in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
Your name, email and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash), your university and gender if you sign up as a student, your WhatsApp number, an agency name and profile photo if you sign up as an agent, and the listings, photos, saved listings, reviews and reports you create. We also use cookie-free Vercel Analytics to see which pages are visited and how fast they load.
To run your account and let people find and contact each other. Listings and agent profiles are public. Your WhatsApp number is shown to signed-in users who choose to contact you about a listing. Your email, university and gender are not shown publicly. We don't sell your data. The site runs on Neon (database and file storage, Singapore) and Vercel (hosting), so your data is processed outside Malaysia.
You can delete your account at any time from your account menu (“Delete my account”). This removes your profile, listings and photos, saved listings, roommate profile and reviews.
